Design thinking as a gateway to more powerful inquiry

Design thinking has become a fashionable approach for project-based learning, but behind the gloss are some seriously powerful ways to help students do one thing really well: to design their thinking. Knowing how you want to think is a core capability to develop in order to tackle ever more complex challenges. In this session, Ewan McIntosh brings 20 years of design thinking for learning experience to talk about three ways you can bring some design thinking power to your classroom.

Participants will see:
  • How you can develop better hooks and provocative ways into topics.
  • How you help students design discussions for specific purposes.
  • How you curate a rich immersive research phase for students’ projects.
